Message about the SY22-23 PSSAs

Dear Russell Byers Families:

We hope all of you are well as we continue to navigate the COVID Pandemic. Recently, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) announced that the metrics they follow have reached the level where it is now safe to stop enforcing the indoor mask mandate. In addition, the PDPH announced that should levels continue to be at an all clear level, schools are able to lift their mask mandate on or after March 9th. Here is what that means for Russell Byers Charter School:

● Commencing Thursday, March 10th, mask wearing will be optional for all students and staff
● Masks will be optional for students riding a yellow school bus
● Students will continue to be required to wear a mask while riding on SEPTA.

It is important to remember that the Pandemic is not over. It is our goal to continue to maintain a healthy school environment that will allow our school to remain open for in-person learning. We ask that our community continue to follow our health and safety guidelines that are currently in place such as staying home when you are sick, getting tested if you exhibit COVID-like symptoms, quarantining if you have been exposed to COVID, and isolating if you have tested
positive for COVID.

Please be advised that as an extra precaution to help minimize the risk of a COVID surge following spring break, all students and staff will be required to wear a mask commencing April 18th through April 22nd.

We will continue to follow the recommendations and mandates issued from the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. We will keep you advised of any changes that take place.

Warmest regards,
Carol Domb, Ed. D
