Early Dismissal on Wednesdays Starting November 24th

Dear Russell Byers Community:
We hope this letter finds you well as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic. We are excited that we have returned to in-person learning and thrilled to see our students in our school every day. It is evident that students need to experience school in-person for successful learning to take place.
The past 1.5 years has been like no other in the history of education. We recognize that returning to in-person learning following the past 1.5 years of school closure and hybrid learning has brought some challenges. We recognize that our original school calendar did not provide the much-needed professional development time that is essential for our teachers to support our students. It is imperative that an adjustment be made to our school calendar to support teachers to maximize the instructional time needed to address the learning loss from COVID-19.
To support this initiative, we need your support. Commencing November 24, 2021, we are making an adjustment to our academic calendar and will be dismissing students each Wednesday at 12:30 pm. Please note that on early dismissal days, there will not be 21st Century or Aftercare. While we recognize that this may create some difficulty for our families, we also recognize that this will provide our teachers with the support they need to maximize successful learning.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this change may cause. We appreciate your willingness to partner with us so that we may provide the best possible education for our children. Together we will make a difference.
Best regards,
Carol Domb, Ed.D
