October 22, 2021
Our October Parents Meeting featured our Math Specialist, Nina Abrams, who offered a workshop on how to help your child with math in primary grades. Her presentation included several strategies and included a Q&A session for families.
If you missed the meeting or if you just want a recap of the information shared, don’t worry – we have you covered! Below is a quick recap of the math workshop.
Math Curriculum (Eureka)
This year, students in the lower grades will be using the Eureka math curriculum, which is already being used for the upper grades. The goal of this curriculum is to develop conceptual understanding by looping back around each year to reinforce skills. It is also aligned to Common Core Standards.
Graphic Organizers
Number Bonds include the two parts that make a whole (4+5=9), and Ten Frames are used with counters to help students illustrate numbers less than or equal to ten.
