Parent Meeting Recap + FAQs

August 26, 2021

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a Virtual Parents Meeting on Tuesday, August 24th. We enjoyed discussing the upcoming school year, as well as connecting with many of you during the lively Q&A session.

If you missed the meeting or if you just need a refresher on the information shared, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered!

Below is a quick recap, along with a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs).

Meeting Recap

To start off the call, our principals introduced themselves. Below are their names and contact information for your reference.

Meet the Teachers Day Logistics

In case you haven’t heard, we’d love for you to join us on Meet the Teachers Day. Come by the school on Thursday, September 9th, 2021, between 11AM – 4PM.

Students in grades 1-8, who previously returned their Chromebooks will sign out a Chromebook to bring back and forth from school each day.

Middle school children can receive their locker assignments, and septa key cards will be given out to 7th/8th graders.

Family members / guardians, we haven’t forgotten about you! Chat with your child’s teachers, get skyward login assistance, or learn more about HSA at their info table.

Learning Plans

Option #1 – Full In-Person Instruction

This option would include the student coming to school all 5 days of the week, learning fully in-person. Everyone in the building is required to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Social distancing and privacy shields on desks will also be strictly enforced.

The school day runs from 8:30 – 3:30 PM. Students will be marked tardy after 9 AM. Hot breakfast and lunch will be provided, and students will still be required to social distance during lunch, although masks moved down to eat.

The student will be in the same cohort (with the same group of students) all day, although they will move to several classrooms for subject-specific instruction. Sanitization stations are set up in each classroom, and teachers are required to clean all surfaces between instructing different cohorts.

Option #2 – Full Virtual Instruction

The second option is for students to receive virtual instruction. Students would log in to a virtual meet from 8:30-9:00 AM for attendance. 5k-5th grade students will stay online from 9:00AM-12:00PM and use Edgenuity (an online curriculum) to work at their own speed. 6-8th grade students will log in from 12:00PM-3:00PM and use Edgenuity to work at their own speed.

Edgenuity is a self-learning curriculum that students navigate through on their own. There will be a teacher online during these times to assist or troubleshoot any problems students may have, but not to formally teach the students.

If this option is selected, students can not switch back to in-person learning until the end of the first quarter.

We also covered some additional back to school information before offering up time for questions. Most of that information can be found in our Back to School Quick Guide.
