Job Title: K-8 Principal

Position Overview:

The K-8 Principal serves as the instructional leader and administrative head of the school,
responsible for providing visionary leadership, fostering a positive school culture, and
ensuring high levels of academic achievement for all students. The Principal is accountable
for the overall operation and management of the school, including instructional leadership,
staff supervision, student discipline, and community relations.

 

Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership:

● Provide visionary leadership in curriculum development, instructional
practices, and assessment strategies to enhance student learning outcomes.
● Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth among
staff members.
● Lead and support the implementation of evidence-based instructional
strategies and interventions to meet the diverse needs of students.
● Utilize data analysis to inform instructional decision-making and monitor
student progress towards academic goals.
● Manage the school-wide MTSS program.
● Foster a culture of high expectations with strong support.
● Implement an effective observation-feedback cycle, that promotes
continuous feedback and growth.

School Management:

● Oversee the day-to-day operations of the school, including scheduling and
resource allocation.
● Ensure compliance with Charter policies, state regulations, and legal
requirements related to education.
● Supervise and evaluate staff members, providing ongoing feedback and
support for professional development.
● Manage student discipline and behavior management systems, promoting a
safe and respectful learning environment for all students.
● Manage 1-2 Assistant Principals of Instruction, providing guidance and
support to grow their instructional leadership capacities.

Collaboration and Communication:

● Build strong partnerships with parents, community members, and
stakeholders to support student success and school improvement initiatives.
● Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including staff, students,
parents, board members, and community members, through various
channels such as meetings, newsletters, and social media.
Professional Development and Growth:
● Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth among staff
members, encouraging participation in professional development
opportunities.
● Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to staff members to enhance their
instructional practices and leadership skills.
● Stay current with research and best practices in education, maintaining a
deep knowledge of instructional trends and pedagogical approaches.

Qualifications:

● Holds a current Pennsylvania Principal Certification.
● Demonstrates a deep knowledge of instruction and curriculum development.
● Has a strong background in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and
implementing evidence-based interventions to support student learning.
● Possesses a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement for self
and others.
● Able to effectively implement an already created strategic plan and align school
initiatives with broader organizational goals.
The K-8 Principal plays a vital role in shaping the educational experiences of students and
fostering a culture of excellence within the school community. This position requires a
dynamic and visionary leader who is committed to educational equity, student success, and
continuous improvement.

Salary Range:

The salary for the position of K-8 Principal is based on experience and qualifications. The
salary range for this position is $125,000 - 158,000 annually. Actual salary offer will be
determined by the candidate's experience, qualifications, and the school’s compensation
policies

3. Qualified candidates will be asked to participate in a brief introductory call/zoom the
week of May 6, 2024. Please hold space on your calendar for such a call. Calls should
be no longer than 30 minutes.
4. Candidates who pass the screening phase will be invited to participate in a
leadership performance task. Tasks will be sent on May 10th, 2024 and will be due
back by May 24, 2024.
5. Candidates who are successful with the leadership performance task will be invited
for an in-person interview the week of May 27, 2024.
6. Principal will be named by June 1, 2024
